Some thoughts from the spiritual home of the chicken wing:

1. THREE DOLLARS AND THIRTY-SEVEN FUCKING CENTS A GALLON? Dayum. Good thing I only had to fill the rental car tank halfway to meet my contractual obligation.
2. The hotel I'm staying at is decent enough, but the cable TV lacks CBC. This afternoon, before I left, I was watching CBC television at home and saw an announcement advertising a documentary to be shown this evening called One Day In September, which chronicles the events that surrounded the 1972 Munich Olympics and the kidnapping and murder of Israeli athletes. I read the book of the same name and was looking extremely forward to the documentary. Sadly, I'll have to miss it as I can't seem to pick up the CBC station from Toronto from here over the air (nor, as I mentioned, does it seem to be carried on this hotel's cable system).
3. My hotel room has a really great view of runway 14L at the Buffalo International Airport.
4. I hadn't eaten all day, instead preferring to save myself for dinner in Buffalo. Before checking into my hotel room, I filled up my rental car with the aforementioned $3.37/gal gas, purchased a couple of 24-ounce cans of Bud and asked the attendant if he knew of any local wings and pizza places that he would recommend.

There's a Pizza Hut just down there, he said, motioning northbound on NY 78.

No, I replied. I'm looking for something less... um... chainy.

He pointed me southbound on 78 and mentioned a place called Casillo's or similar. I stopped in there, which was convenient as it's located near a pharmacy where I picked up some nighttime cold meds. Casillo's has a special on a small one-topping pizza and 10 wings for $11, which is not a bad deal at all. I picked up some food and took it back to the hotel room to eat. It was quite delicious. If you're ever staying near the Buffalo airport, I highly recommend this place for good food at non-outrageous prices.
